Type the film's title and get the poster's own curls; type anything else and get a face built to sit beside them: Baloo Chettan 2 ExtraBold, squeezed to 80% width, fattened until the strokes match and leaned 9° like the brush. The oversized e-signs open a word and switch to a normal-height form inside one.

Trace
potrace turns the film's title card into outlines: twelve letters, including the fused vi and the oversized e-signs that curl below the line.

Fit
Baloo Chettan 2 ExtraBold is squeezed to 80% width, grown by 0.019 em and leaned 9° like the brush. Thirteen open-licence Malayalam fonts were compared; none has this hand, so the body is a close relative, not the same drawing.

Build
build.py merges the base and the outlines, adds a contextual-alternates rule so the big e-signs open a word and shrink inside one, and spaces letters from the edges that actually face each other.

Verify
The build re-opens the font and refuses to ship if a counter closed up or if HarfBuzz shapes the proof text unlike the base font.

Install and use
- macOS
- Double-click the .ttf, then Install in Font Book. Or:
cp ~/Downloads/Thenmavu-Regular.ttf ~/Library/Fonts/ - Windows
- Right-click the .ttf, then Install (or Install for all users).
- Linux
- Copy it into your fonts folder and refresh the cache:

Restart the app you want it in. In Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere and After Effects, turn on the Middle Eastern & South Asian (World-Ready) paragraph composer, or conjuncts fall apart.

An artistic tribute to Thenmavin Kombathu (1994), directed by Priyadarshan. Letterforms are not copyright subject matter in the United States or in India, so the traced title letters ship under the OFL with everything else. A request, not a term: keep them to personal, fan and non-commercial titling. The film, its title and its artwork belong to their rights holders; this project is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
